USB installation?

Asked by Jim Lee

I have installed Ubuntu from my USB flash drive and Ubuntu is running well but if I remove the flash drive it stops running. I can keep the USB in there permanently but I would rather not and more importantly I don't understand why Ubuntu can not run off my disk drive without having to have the USB in. The install was definitely copying files to the disk drive and even partitioned it. But when I choose the option at startup to start from the disk it cannot do that. It can only run off the USB. Actually it seems to me that it is running off the USB and the disk.

When I installed I stuck the USB in and then Ubuntu came up with like an intro screen and then I installed it to the drive. I even had Ubuntu partition the drive.

Thanks very much,
Jim Lee

I suspect you installed the bootloader to USB key.
You should installed boot loader on internal disk: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2#Copy_LiveCD_Files

Can you help with this problem?
