Hi Thorsten,

Did you MD5Sum check the DVD? Please do that first as the download may be corrupted.

Where did you get the dvd? Did you download it?

Thanks
Paul

Also test your RAM using the liveCD too.

Hi Paul,

thanks for your answer. (I'm a newbie to Linux) was so, the Ubuntu 4.11 32-bit CD version in a German PC magazine "Linux-internal". Having spent several hours in live mode, I wanted to install this version on the hard disk. Yes, I was very sure that this operating system be in the future my main operating system for me is. (Sorry, but my English)

Unfortunately, this installation has failed due to an error right after selecting the German keyboard layout. (perhaps the DVD was dirty, clean the laser from the DVD drive, so the information after the break)

The next step for me:
I try a network installation. maybe this way works, so I finally no longer the "windows" MUST look. just kidding, but I'm really looking forward to, for me, very "new" Linux world.

Thank you in advance ever,
Thorsten

You can test the CD for defects once it started to boot?

Hello Andrew,

Thank you for your information, but what does this mean?:

The DVD starts normally. On the DVD yet Kubuntu 11.4, Xubuntu are each in the Ver.11.4-32-bit, etc. The 6.0 Pmagic start normally and I could even try out for hours.

Hello Paul & Andrew
Thank you for your support! :-)

@ Andrew: Your tip was fantastic, after I received the ISO file of the Ubuntu distribution of the magazine 11 .4-DVD was burned again, lo and behold, it works.
It took a couple of hours, but I must say: It's unbelievable what is now (2011) possible with Linux. Very, very good hardware detection (my Hardware.:HP Compaq nc 8430, Intel 1.8GHz CPU, 2 GB RAM, 500 GB-SATA,GPU: ATI x-1600, Fingerprint a.s.o.) wow!

Then I will go from now once in a little reading to learn Linux, understand and have fun with it.

As yet, a German poet said: "Who fights, can lose - who does not fight has already lost!" from "Berthold Brecht

wish you a nice weekend and possibly until next time
