Unistalled edubuntu, now I see: automatic crash report fail

Asked by Sarah Tompkins

Okay. I installed Ubuntu 11.04 on my new laptop and had no issues. Then I was looking for games for my daughter and downloaded Edubuntu without realizing (yeah...I'm very new to Linux) that it was a whole new desktop. So I uninstalled it and ever since, I get this funky screen at wake up and start up and noticed that in the list on the left in this funky screen it says automatic crash report generation and all the way to the right next to it, it says fail. It is the only one on the list that says fail and I am wondering if that is responsible for the whole funky screen or if I didn't uninstall Edubuntu properly or what.

Okay...when I say new to linux I really mean it. I have no idea how to open a terminal or give you the result of sudo fdisk -l. I uninstalled it by going into the software center, searching for edubuntu, and then checking and uninstalling everything that came up there.

ok so you don't need to send the previous requested info.
Now please try to reinstall the meta package ubuntu-desktop open a terminal or go to root recovery mode by pressing
shift key at Ubuntu boot then type:

apt-get -f install
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade
apt-get --reinstall install ubuntu-desktop

then to reboot type:

reboot

Then Copy and Past line by line Marco's terminal commands. (apt-get......................) All four. Then reboot.

If terminal asks for your password, as you inter it, you will not see anything. That is normal. Go ahead and hit enter, the terminal will take it.

Thanks guys! It is not quite the same Ubuntu graphic when I start up, but it isn't sending me that message anymore and if it does, I will certainly try to do what you have so kindly laid out for me above. :-)
