what do you mean by IBM mainframe?

ubuntu is designed to work on pentium chip based desktop and laptop computers. it won't work on mainframes.

however, if you're talking about IBM desktop and laptop computers (they're called Lenovo now), then yes, ubuntu will work on those.

Grateful for the reply, my need is really a (ISO) specifies for mainframe to work on possible Cloud project.
