How did you install Ubuntu? Inside Windows using Wubi or by booting to the install CD, resizing NTFS and installing a true dualboot?

With 11.04 Natty, you don't need to uninstall. Boot on CD, and choose "Upgrade system".
If it fails, you can use the "manual partitioning" during installation. You will have to mount "/" folder on ext4 partition.

Can you help with this problem?
