At install, only get cross cursor.

hallo,
sorry for my English I'm from dutch Belgium Antwerp, I'm new in Ubuntu, I start my PC only mi desk top on screen, don't have a menu on my desk only a black cross that move with mi mouse, I start it tree times het still the same, i have Internet when i click on steam it start, but i don't have any menu. Ubuntu 11.04 . thanks for helping.

You probably have a issue with graphic card driver.
You can try alternative installer, which is text based: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/alternative-download#alternate
