Did a complete install of 11.04 need Ubuntu manual, handbook ...

Asked by TheLateNightPoet

Here is every thing in a nutshell. A few days ago I was surfing the web got bored, so I remember my dad running Linux on his server in his home and him talking about Ubuntu. I looked up the site. people seemed to like this OS, so two hours later after some debate with myself and my wife (who has no clue of what I am talking about). I did a complete install of 11.04. I have no previous knowledge on how to use this, I don't know code, I don't program, so the dilemma, I want to learn every thing I can. I really love the whole premise of open source code and the community that surrounds it. What are some good books to read. I prefer short books as for I have suffered injuries to the head, so my patience when it comes to reading stuff I don't understand and for how long it takes me to read. Gets frustrating. Or if there are any websites that are good to look at.

I would start with the www.ubuntu.com site, down the bottom there are links such as 'why is it free' etc. Then you can google open source as well....

Thanks Sam. I will defiantly take a look at everything. Like I said earlier I'm like a baby learning to walk, but I'm willing to learn. My 7 yr old daughter has taken to a few of the learning programs, so we are going to build a computer that will just run Ubuntu and teach her about code as I am learning it. Her mother says we are so much alike, so maybe she might take to it. Again thanks for the info I will defiantly look over every thing. I would like to keep this thread open so if any one has some tips or other info.

Thanks
