Ubuntu 7.04 to 11.04, lots of issues...

Asked by Jason Fischetti

After a system failure while running windows XP, I reverted to an old Ubuntu CD I had lying around. After installing, I had planned to update to the latest build, however I've had nothing but issues with getting to that version. Firstly I cannot install updates as the server the updates are hosted on appears to be down (I assume taken down), and the only alternative I can see is burning a copy of the latest version of Ubuntu, however my only option without spending any money would be to use a flash drive to install it. All available guides I have seen rely on newer versions, and I don't know if there exist any alternatives for me on 7.04. If someone could help walk through with me how to update to 11.04, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for your time.

on your computer, install the version 7 that you have. THen go to www.ubuntu.com (or do it on another computer) and download and burn an iso of 11.04...then pop that into the cd and reboot and follow the instructions.
