uninstall 11.04, install 10.04

Asked by Mel G

I recently got 4 new computers with Linux, all of which had ubuntu 11.04 installed on them. I wanted to remove that and install 10.04, so I burned a CD and installed it successfully on 3 computers, selecting the option of erasing the old system and using the whole disk. For some reason it did not work at all with the last computer: the installation process seems to work fine, it confirms that I wish to erase 11.04 and completely install 10.04, but once the computer starts up it's still 11.04 that's running! I wondered if something went wrong with the CD I burned so I burned a new one just in case, but the same thing happened. Help?

Maybe you're creating a new partition in the HDD to Ubuntu 10.04, and 11.04 is in other partition.
Try use GParted to verify your disc, and delete all partitions, including swap, after, start the new instalation, and it must to ask you if you want to install, but you have all your disk deleted. If your disc is empty, the install cd will not ask if you want to update or change your system, only will install.
