OK I have it installed,

sudo apt-get install python-software-properties

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lubuntu-desktop/ppa

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends lubuntu-desktop

sudo apt-get dis-upgrade

sudo apt-get autoclean

/var/cache/apt/archives

sudo rm

sudo reboot

Now how to get lubuntu 10.04 to upgrade to 10.10??

Thank You

Cevin

If you haven't customized the system, you might just want to start over--wipe the disk, and install from the Ubuntu 10.10 minimal CD. You should also be aware that if you have an Ubuntu alternate CD, you can install a command-line only (minimal) system from it--after selecting your language, press F4 and select the option to install a command-line system.

You might consider running Lubuntu 11.04 instead of 10.10 -- you can install it the same way, using the Ubuntu 11.04 minimal CD or Ubuntu 11.04 alternate CD. However, unlike in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and Ubuntu 10.10, Ubuntu 11.04 has higher versions of Lubuntu-related packages in the standard software sources than are available in the PPA, so you might not want to enable the PPA, unless you need the few packages that it does provide in higher versions. You can always view the versions it provides, and whether or not they are newer than the release versions, at https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop/+archive/ppa. (If the PPA is eventually updated with later versions, then it would make sense to start using the PPA at that time.)

If you really want to upgrade your Lubuntu 10.04 system to become Lubuntu 10.10, you can do this the same way you would update Ubuntu--either with the Update Manager, or on the command-line with the do-release-upgrade utility. See http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/upgrade. (And once updated to Lubuntu 10.10, you can upgrade again to get Lubuntu 11.04, though I recommend a fresh reinstallation for either, since you just recently installed and thus you don't have a customized system where it makes sense for you to upgrade.)

During the upgrade process, the Lubuntu PPA might be disabled, so you should check that, and also make sure that after the upgrade the PPA in use is the one for the version of the system that you are running. If you make changes (e.g., re-enabling a PPA), then you should make sure to perform an update (either in the Update Manager or on the command-line with apt-get or aptitude) immediately afterwards.

Finally, I've assumed that you have an amd64 system, but if you have an i386 system, then while all the above-described methods will work, there are also Lubuntu i386 install CD images for version 10.04 LTS, 10.10, and 11.04, and it would make sense for you to use those if performing a fresh installation.
