Installing Ubuntu 11.04

Asked by Timothy Marshall

I have an HP 300-1223 AMD Athlont II x2 240e 280GHz, 4GB 64-bit, Touch Point 2 Point.
and only get a blank screen no matter how I try to boot. I enabled the virtual machine access in the boot menu without success. I first tried to just eliminate the windows 7 home premium for Ubuntu and then just installing Ubuntu as a program. Ultimately, I would like a partition with the majority of the memory dedicated to Ubuntu, and just have the windows for certain application that are not available In Ubuntu like Magic Jack, and Skype.
Thanks, Timothy.

Are you installing into a VM or a true install?
Did you MD5 test the ISO you have used?
If you burned a CD, did you burn it as slowly as possible? Did you check the CD for defects once the boot started?

Fwd from Timothy:
Cameron W,
Thanks for responding, I have opened a new account with my gmail address but it still doesn't work I guess there all going to my old Hotmail account which I closed. I will again look at the account information to check. I cannot close the old duplicate tickets since I myself cannot get into the Hotmail account.
I want to do a true install using most of the memory under the Ubuntu partition. I would like to set up the windows 7 as a virtual machine however this is a newer computer and does not come with a disk to download the operating system. I'm sorry but I don't know what an MD5 test is or the ISO so please explain. I did burn several CD's two for a 64 bit; two for a 32 bit and another that is called Ubuntu USB Creator. I did not take precautions on the speed of downloading and have software that probably makes it too fast so if you could suggest how to do it slower that will be appreciated. I did run all the diagnostics in the boot menu and start up allowed before choosing an operating system. I tried everything I could at the start up and all I get when choosing the Ubuntu install is the black screen.
Thanks, Cameron W I really appreciate the help as I am out of town and they don't have internet security and need to work within the Ubuntu for security and convenience.
thank , Timothy.
