Can't boot from HDD

Asked by coumntraJonathan Bailey

I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 on an old Dell Inspiron 1100 from a USB drive. It appears to have installed OK but I can't boot from the hard drive. It just hangs on a blank screen and after a few minutes the HDD just seems to power down. I can still boot from the USB drive. I replace Windows XP service pack 3. There is enough RAM and the HDD is 30 GB and Ubuntu recognized it during the insallation process.

Hello,

Did you do a full install wiping the hard disk?

Have you reset the BIOS to boot from the HDD?

Regards,

Allan :)
