Config files from previous Ubuntu

Asked by oddvar

How can I backup and reuse config files from previous versions of Ubuntu?
I have Ubuntu 10.04 on PowerPC G3. The graphics function acceptable for this version. But upgrade to version 10.10 or 11.04
give bad or text-only graphics.
How can I backup and reuse the graphic configuration from 10.04 to newer versions?
Its not only /etc/X11/xorg.conf
A look at /var/log/messages say "screens found, but none have an acceptable configuration" (or something like that)

I don't understand.
Do you want to:
1) backup 10.04.2 and then install 11.04
2) reuse old 10.04.2 config files after having installing 11.04

I installed iMac Tiger on that computer. That give millions of colors and not only 256 as Ubuntu
