pc won't boot from windows, want to install ubuntu, how do I get my windows over to ubuntu

windows won't boot, I want to install ubuntu. I need to recover my music files from windows over to ubuntu. how do you then dump windows, and recover that disk space.

You will need a second storage device (usb key, HDD, DVD,CD etc) to store your data. Just copy your music files using the liveCD (your windows data will be accessible through the file manager), to this second device (or use the CD burning tool to burn it to a DVD/CD).

Once you do that, just do a normal ubuntu install, using the entire disk
