how deinstall ubuntu 11.04 properly and replace by ubuntu10.10

my computer is a Dell with two hard disks 80GB. Since I have upgrade to ubuntu 11.04 I have no more sound and I don't like the desktop. I wish to come back to ubuntu 10.10 which used to work well ? Thank you for helping me

You must reinstall Maverick if you want to use maverick. I suggest you try a clean install of Natty first, see if it makes things nice. You will need to wipe the partitions clean which currently hold Ubuntu then install to the free space (Be sure you have a backup of everything you need FIRST). If you used Wubi then do the same backing up then boot to Windows and uninstall Wubi using add/remove, you should also delete the Wubi folder so that the fresh install goes to a clean slate.

I don't have Windows. I tried to reinstall Maverick Meerkat but it is still there in my computer and and remain with Ubuntu 11.04 and its desktop ans launcher on the right.
I don't really understand what I am doing and don't know what to do BUT i remain without any sound?
Any help? thanks in advance

You need to format the partitions during the installation. Use custom partitioning and set the current Linux partitions holding Ubuntu to be formatted and used for their respective use. You will need at least a / partition (known as root) and a swap partition.
