Which ubuntu version best suites this configurations

I am having a IBM R51 Laptop with
1.6GHz Processor
256MB DDR-RAM
WITH ETHERNET AND WiFi.

Could you suggest me, which unbuntu version best suites for this configuration.

LUbuntu will run on it very well. XPud will boot amazingly fast too :)

If you grab another 256Mb RAM (You can get 1Gb sticks for the price of a pack of smokes) and will help you a lot. I'm guessing you have an eMachines or Gateway system ;)

You could also try Slitaz. Lubuntu and Xubuntu should work.

UBUNTU 10.04 LTS works wonder. Try to download from here

Click download options, you will get 10.04 LTS version.

Gnome on 256Mb? It'll run a bit slow. Lighter DEs will free up more RAM to make the OS more responsive (faster)
