Installing 11.04 on ICH10R-based RAID

When I try to install 11.04 on a RAID connected to an ICH10R controller, the installation fails. The isntaller appears to recognize the RAID and writes all of the files to the RAID, but fails when trying to create the bootloader.

When running the Live CD, it sees the RAID set AND the individual disks as well.

Is this a supported configuration?
Can I just place the /boot on another drive while keeping / on the RAID?
