Try booting up to the live CD and running memtest, sounds like an issue with your hardware for it to do that and be consistent.

Could you MD5 Ubuntu ISO image: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM
If MD5 is OK, boot on Ubuntu media, choose "Try" instead of install and then System->Administration->Disk Utilities and check SMART on your hard disk.

The md5 should be ok considering it's a real ubuntu os disc that I ordered so it's not burnt. And can't install ubuntu so how am I supposed to check it? Because it keeps freezing during the live cd and during the install it freezes at the screen where it asks you to enter your desired username and password and name the computer D:

What happened exactly when you chose "Try" option ?

If by try you mean from the live cd it runs for maybe 5 minutes now, the first few times it would run for 30 mins but now only 5 at the most :(

Looks very bad. Sometimes delivered CD are corrupted.
You should be able to MD5 CD from Windows: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM#MD5SUM%20on%20Windows
Do you see first screen of f https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/CDIntegrityCheck?action=show&redirect=CDIntegrityCheck .

The CD is the ISO. You have to get whole image of CD. I can't help you since I do this from Ubuntu usually.

Can you help with this problem?
