I can't boot the 11.04 live CD and want to know what step I should take next.

Asked by Ryan Kaskel

I just downloaded the new 11.04 (amd64) release and booted up the Live CD. When X tried to start, I got a screen like http://www2.ryankaskel.com/misc/images/screenshots/natty-startup.jpg .

I'm pretty bummed out... here is the output of lspci:

Code:
$ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GT216 [GeForce GT 330M] (rev a2)
I got this laptop less than a year ago (but it is custom).

The Intel graphics card is on a chip and the nVidia one of course isn't.

How do you suggest I proceed? Should I upgrade from 10.10 and try to get things working then? If I leave Maverick installed, are packages still going to update?

Thanks.

I've upgraded anyway but I'm having problems with kernel 2.6.38-8. I am going to open a new question regarding this.
