I've got to installation of final product, but it errored and will not boot?

Asked by alex roth

I've got to the final product, and it will not boot. I've erased the windows, as it was too painful for me to see it take up space on my computer. unfortunatly, It errored while installing and told me to reboot. I've rebooted, but all it says is dell and then just a black blinking screen.

I really have no clue what to do, I've put the CD in multiple times, and it will not boot from it. I've tryed to get the F12 screen to work with me, but it does nothing. (it still says that it SHOULD bot from CD as a last resort) I am a mid-techy 14 year old, so please explain what to do. I appear to not have an opperating system, but Ubuntu will not boot. :(

I need help, and soon. I'd like to give Ubuntu a try, but it won't boot on it. anyways, I've also got another question... does Ubuntu have a Word Prosesser? that is mainly what i use the computer for, so i was just wondering.

New Info: I have fixed on why it won't reboot, All i had to do was go into the setup :D how stupid of me. anyways, I need to know why it errored, because otherwise I won't be able to install it fully.

I've gotten to the (6) page of installment, and I seem to have a extremely small part of the machine to be a different OS. I don't understand it, but I may try and go around it. By: going into the Advanced installment. I think this is scary, so please bear with me. I need to be able to override the Smallish OS that i have absolutly no clue i had.

If anyone can tell me how to do that, i'd be greatful. Thankyou

As for the question of the word processor: Ubuntu comes with OpenOffice, which includes a word processor. Ubuntu 11.04 will include LibreOffice instead, which basically is the same as OpenOffice for now.
