failed install 64 bit version...how to fix

Asked by jim rennie

i have a 64 bit gateway desktop. Chose to install ubuntu 10.10 64 bit version along side windows 7. after installer partitioned the drive and was finishing the install. the install just stoped and locked up. Now half of the drive has a non-working partition on it and if i try re-install the installer wants to make even more partitions in the drive......how do i undo the first failed install and is it safe to retry this

you can go into windoze and delete the partition.

on the file you download, did you do an md5sum check to make sure it's not corrupt?

type can google "ubuntu md5sum check" for instructions on how to do an md5sum check.
