how do I go from 10.10 back to 10.04?( Meerkat to Lucid)

I updated from 8.04 to 10.04, used it for a couple of days, then updated to 10.10. I now wish to revert to 10.04. Thanks

you can't do a downgrade. you'll have to download 10.04 and do a re-install.

If you reinstall without reformatting, your home directory will be kept. But this must not prevent you to do a BACKUP.
You could have some issues if configuration files for some software evolved between 10.04.2 and 10.10. But it's unusual.
