ubuntu 10.04 installation problem

In TOSHIBA SATELLITE C650 laptop while trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 the a problem encountered a message such as "no media found with a live file system " is displayed. How this to be tackled? Laptop is already installed with Windows 7.

Perhaps you have a bad CD.
Please check MD5: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM
With some seldom CD-drives, there are issues. You could to boot from a USB key.
But ISO issue or CD burn issue is more probable.

Did you md5sum the downloaded iso?
Did you burn the CD as slowly as possible?
When you get the live media to boot, run the media-check before the actual installation and check the ram also.
