Did you installed Ubuntu inside Windows (wubi) or on a different partition on your disk (side by side option during install)?

Does Ubuntu work?

Can you explain in detail what you mean when you say that your "BIOS hangs"? Can you provide more information about how Windows XP hangs? For example, is there a blue screen with text on it?

As Theodotos Andreou asked: Does Ubuntu itself work?
