Can't boot on Ubuntu CD

Asked by Emmanuel77

I am not at all able to Install Ubuntu 10 after downloading from the Ubuntu site .
I have downloaded ubuntu-10.10-desktop -i386.iso and burned it on to a CD and also on to a DVD however none of them helped me in Installing the same on my HP Compaq A-901TU Laptop.
After 6 months I repeated the download burning and tried Installing but none of them Worked.
Please send me a Copy of Desktop edition so that I can Install the same on my Laptop.

Another problem I have Ubuntu 9 on my Laptop but ever since I installed on my laptop I was not able to Install Modem and Driver for my BSNL EVDO Wireless internet card. When clicked on Setup.exe it just does not run.

Please help me as to what to do with both the Issues.

what error messages do you get?
does the installation stop at a certain point?
does it install but does not boot up?
please provide specific information instead of saying it will not install.

Thank you for the response ...

Honestly speaking there are no Error messages when I place the CD or DVD in the optical drive , I can hear the disc spinning & i also see the icon on the desktop about the CD or DVD saying that it is the .iso image of the Ubuntu 10 I don't see any messages saying that the Grub is loading which I do get when I installed the Ubuntu 9.
I tried to if the iso image CD & DVD work with windows 7 by installing Windows 7 Ultimate. But no success at all.
Hence I used the Ubuntu 9 Desktop Installation CD and formatted the hard disk and wiped out the Windows 7 Ultimate and Reinstalled Ubuntu 9.0.
I use an Wireless BSNL EVDO CDMA Internet Card and it is detected by Ubuntu and hence cannot to connect to Internet , I do not know if there is Wireless Internet card that supports Linux or Ubuntu here in India. No Information so far. Please help.

Please burn the downloaded file into Burn from Image in Nero or any other burner software.
Dont write the downloaded file as data disk. This will solve your question.

For installation, it's better to install from wired Ethernet than WIFI.
When you burn the Ubuntu image, you must choose, as explained நவீன் குமார்(கெம்ளின்), an option inside burning software, to burn ISO image not as a file, but as an image of a CD. Else you will not be able to boot on it.
