Can't complete instal for unbuntu 10.10 on HP Mini 210

Asked by Mariel Valerio

Last night after downloading Unbuntu 10.10 (along with the sister program to save it to a usb drive), I tried to override my windows 7 starter on my HP Mini 210 but had no luck! I followed Ubuntu's directions to a t, I even went into my BIOS set up and forced my usb to kick in before my hard drive, which all worked until I got to the screen at the end of the process that prompted me to fill in my name, user name, computer name, passwords and whether I wanted to have to sign in manually or automatically.

Which I did, but the forward key never lit up. I backed up, tried again, but nothing. What's worse is at the bottom of the screen where the load bar was, a message read "ready when you are." Again, I scrolled around (cursed frantically as my key pad decided randomly to act erratic and not allow me to drag the box up and see if I left any hidden boxes unchecked) and found nothing that wouldn't allow me to proceed to the next stage...argh!! A friend told me to go back and let the previous stage completely load and that should allow me to hit forward in the screen where I was stuck (which I'm trying now as we speak, we'll see).

Has anyone had this problem!? I'm new to Linux and Ubuntu, and really would love to give it a go after all the positive feed back I've been given on the system. And I know other HP Mini users out there have Ubuntu as well...please help!
