virtual box and virus

Asked by gregor mccalman

i am running 10.10 in a virtual box on a w7 os. i have microsoft security essentials on w7. i know 10.10 is safe from virus, but if i surf or download using 10.10, can any virus be picked up by the w7 os? i don't expect a detailed run down on every aspect, just a "yes it can", "no it will not", "possible" etc.. thanks greg......

No, if u surf the net using ubuntu, virus will expliot the webbrowser bugs that is Firefox, it will not affect Win7 OS. There is a unix version of the antivirus software in Ubuntu Software Centre but it is still buggie, I am not able to install it properly. My suggestion is you install a firewall software to protect your ubuntu installation, you can find it as "Firestarter" in the ubuntu software centre, I have installed it without any issue.

Can you help with this problem?
