There is a bug report about your problem:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/636442

In this bug report the problem still exists in Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Alpha. But in the following link a person said (message no 5) if you use nomodeset option, the install completed successfuly. But after install there are some problems releated with grub. You may try these, but I think the best thing is using Ubuntu 10.04 for you, now.
