Are you trying to create the usb from Linux or Windows? Have you used the usb-creator tool?

I created the usb from Windows. Yes I have used the usb-creator tool. I keep getting this message:

Could not find kernel/casper/vmlinuz

However, when I try to install it in rescue mode, it somehow gets through that problem and it gets stuck with the cdrom. It cannot detect the cdrom.

I am not sure what causes this problem. I would suggest to use an external CD-ROM to install Ubuntu in this case.

I agree with Theodotos. Looks like a USB bootloader issue.
If CD fails, check MD5 of ISO image. Sometimes downloaded image is corrupted during transmission.

Can you help with this problem?
