Install the bootloader to the start of the drive, it'll be ok

Sounds like you are using the alternate installer....

If you don't get the option, you can always continue without, then boot to liveCD and install it there manually. I haven't use the alternate ISO but maybe others can contribute

Umm, sorry. I am not using the alternate ISO. I am using the LiveCD, but doing a manual install option. I can't get past the proxy settings window. I don't have a proxy. So, how do I tell it that I don't?

I wish I could help you with problem but I am having a difficulty with manual partitioning. I want to install Ubuntu along side of my windows 7. When I get to the area where you select the whole partition to install, I thought it would have a selection where you can install it half and half. I know there are other Linux distros that have a neat selection feature by just sliding where you want to install both Ubuntu and windows 7. All you do is the set the cursor on the vertical line and change the partition easily. The one I want to i install is Ubuntu Budgie, the latest version. I tried to do it the hard way by doing it manually, but I am afraid that I will kill win 7 which really wouldn't bad as I am sick and tired of all the freeze-ups, taking forever to go to a web site and all the crap that goes along with it. I do have an older HP notebook which has dual core and a 2.1 MHz clock, 500 GB hard drive and 4 GB of ram. But, my computer is almost 7 years old. I would have shit canned it but so many times I did my own repairs and I don't know how many times I had to reinstall my system. So, if any help is out there, please help me.
Thanks a whole lot.
