Booting error installing 10.10: Error setting up gfxboot

Asked by Dave Adams

I am attempting to install Ubuntu 10.10 on a Toshiba NB255-N245 mini laptop. Using a CD, I receive the following error:
graphics initialization failed
Error setting up gfxboot
Boot:
and the system doesn't do anything more. I also tried a USB boot and received the same message and error.
Any suggestions?

Upon encountering the error, simply type "help". Installer proceeds to load as expected.
