vesamenu.c32 not a com32 image

Asked by Andrew Michael Talalt

Okay successfully installed maverick last night after being unable to boot my computer from any drive. Started setting things up and when downloading plugins and applications i'm getting the error 10.10 that basically doesn't let me install anything. So i created a 10.04 USB and booted from it, now I'm getting vesamenu.c32 not a com32r image and it wont let me boot 10.04.

I would like to know how to either:

Install 10.04

or bypass the bug in 10.10 that doesn't let me install anything.

Did you MD5 test the Lucid ISO you downloaded?

no, and i don't mean to belittle your suggestion but wouldn't that just tell me that the vesamenu.c32 file isn't a com32r image?

No, the MD5 test will test the file so you know the ISO is healthy. I have just ran this:

dpkg -S vesamenu.c32
dpkg: *vesamenu.c32* not found.

So it appears the file you have is a 3rd party file.

When do you get the error?
