how to open the Ubuntu install iso file, how to install Ubuntu

Asked by jiadeyu

I've downloaded Ubuntu to a CD. When I insert the CD into the computer and try to open/run/install, there is only one ISO file showing and Windows doesn't "recognize it. (Size of file seems to be all there). Did I download it wrong? Or is there still some way to open/run/install the ISO file?

Can burn the ISO if you don't have a CD burner.

Be sure to MD5 test the ISO before using it so you know it is complete / consistent:

You can also use wubi by mounting the ISO using MagicDisk / DaemonTools and running the installer there. I don't personally advise wubi, it's harder to fix if things go wrong. Burning the CD will give a true dual boot.

you need to burn the iso image to a CD. seeing that you were able to copy the image onto the cd, i'm assuming you have burning software.

conversely, you can use the pendrivelinux installer to transfer the image to a flash drive and install it that way. instructions on how to do this is given on the ubuntu download page.
