Install ubuntu in a linuz system

Asked by George Triantafyllou

The downloaded iso files are converted into executables that install ubuntu very nicely in a windows environment, but a red hat linux ( or even ubuntu linux for that matter) naturally does not recognize them. How can I install ubuntu to replace a red hat linux system?
Thanks in advance

MD5 test the ISO
Burn the ISO to a CD as SLOWLY as possible
Boot to the CD and tell the installer to delete the current partitions and install Ubuntu to the whole drive. This will remove ALL settings and data from the RedHat installation and will give you Ubuntu

Is this what you mean?

No, I did that using another compute where I have installed a windows/ubuntu partition, but when I insert the CD into my Red Hat system nothing happens. The computer (Dell) compeletely ignores the CD.

The OS can be installed in windows as there is wubi on the CD which give this functionality. The only way you can install it within redhat is to use some virtualization.

Can you be a little more specific? How can I do "some virtualization"?

Install a VMWare solution or Virtualbox.
