compatibility to my notebook

I'm new in using ubuntu. I want to change my old OS into the last version of ubuntu (v 10.10). But I have so many questions about the compatibility of ubuntu to my notebook. My notebook is Lenovo G460 (with dedicated VGA). Is Ubuntu v10.10 compatible to my notebook?

Download the desktop CD (64 bits is fine) burn it and boot from it in a live session. There you can test if all hardware works fine.
