Acer laptop and usb port to work

Installed Unbuntu 10.01 on my 64 AMD Acer Aspire 5102 WLMi laptop.
Cannot get the usb port to work
or the Camera and some sounds to play.
Also instance shutdown hangs the machine up and have to do a cold boot.
When you have multiple windows open the bottom tool bar disappears so you cannot switch from one application to another?

Any suggestions?

I have done a hardware check and it lists all my hardware.

Do you have the latest BIOS?
are the ports enabled in BIOS?

Go to Acer site, and search downloads for your model of computers. Check the date of new released BIOS.
