There are problems with the Toshiba netbooks. So stay away from them.
Dell sells inferior products, if you ask me. But people seem to flock to them for whatever reason.
Otherwise, no combination of hardware is perfect.
Get what you want and if you have problems with installation or operation, that's what this board is for.

Oh. Stay away for Lexmark printers. They're dead weight. Canon printers aren't any better. HP printers are the best bet.

I got an Acer Aspire D250 about a month ago.

It came with XP installed. I burnt the XP to DVD and deleted it from the netbook.

Downloaded netbook version of Ubuntu 10.10 to a USB stick (via my trusty old Dell laptop) and installed Ubantu.

The only 2 problems I've had is that I couldn't get Wireless internet working. After much stuffing around connected ACER to router with Ethernet cable and downloaded updates - the working drivers were then available and wireless worked after that. Other problem is e-mail - haven't got Evolution (Outlook equiv) to connect at all (can use webmail for now).

The little Acer works well and is cheap - approx $350AUD (if you don't have a DVD/CD recorder you probably need one - cheap as dirt as well approx $80AUD). It's also small 10.5" screen, resolution is quite good and keyboard is about 80% of the size of the one on my Dell and I have no problem typing on it.

I've installed Unbuntu on an Acer 5102 WLMi and it sort of works as long as you don't want to have the usb port working and the built in camera and some sounds??? have never been able to sort out the problems.
It does let me surf the net and answer emails...
and play a few games so it working better the XP.
