I begin the installation and get to the "who are you" stage and it says "Ready when you are" but the forward button is greyed out

Asked by Robby Hughes

I begin the installation and get to the "who are you" stage and it says "Ready when you are" but the forward button is greyed out. I press back a couple time to the time zone page and then forward again and now it is stuck in " getting timing from Network". I've shut everything down and did the whole process again-twice and it keeps getting stuck at the same point.

At install step Use ONLY lower case characters and use only letters and numbers (don't use anything like fullstops or hyphens or spaces in your username)

Correction: hyphens are permitted in usernames. The exact requirements are that the username must start with a lower-case letter, and may only contain lower-case letters, digits, hyphens, and/or underscores.

I'm in the middle of installing 10.10 and am having the "exact same problem". I have tried reinstalling 4 times now and have changed user/pass per the above suggested instructions (no caps in either) but, no good. Any other suggestions?

Via imageshack, or another paste/bin Web site, could you attach an image of screen (use a camera), and provide link to this image.

I had the same problem. THANK YOU! Installing Ubuntu 10.10 on a new computer I built, Intel motherboard DG41BI, cpu E5500.
This is my first install, new user. My old copy of WIN XP would not load because it was not SP2 or 3. I think I'll stick around.
Carl
