Does Ubuntu work perfectly for Fujitsu Lifebook T4010 ?

Asked by Viswarup

Hello All,

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook T4010 (tablet PC) and presently running Windows Xp tablet PC version. tried with Windows 7 and was not impressed with Windows 7 as several drivers doesn't recognized by windows. Again after performance check i found Windows is consuming lots of resources of my Fujitsu Tablet. Would like to switch to Ubuntu but confused whether Ubuntu would support Fujitsu Tablet.
Like pen, smartcard etc.

Regards,
Viswarup.

Hello,

You can try Ubuntu from a live CD. This will give you a pretty good idea what is recognized and what is not.

Set the BIOS to boot from an Ubuntu CD and run in try mode.

Ubuntu is a lot faster than XP or W7.

Regards,

Allan :)

Boot on Ubuntu CD.
Choose "Try without install".
After you can run System->Administration->Test Hardware
From this session, you can also try Firefox

I Have Ububtu 10.04 CD with me and last night i tried to boot from cd but it was taking long time to come online. Not sure what is the reason.
May be CD is not burnt correctly. Will check today again. Could you please tell me, after installation where to check that all drivers installed correctly? In windows i can check driver in "Device Manager".

To check ISO image, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM
To check CD, you press <SPACE> at boot, and get a menu with check of CD included.

Step after is to try current delivered drivers, with System->Administration->Test Hardware
Test in order of probability of issues: graphic, WIFI, sound, wired network.
Printer and scanners are managed apart of system (they use user and not kernel driver).
If you have problem, we could search better drivers. In this last case, it should be best to use a USB key with persistent memory than a CD ROM. But usually, it works!

Here is my laptop configuration: FUJITSU T4010

It will be appreciated if anyone could help me to configure tablet functionality in Ububtu 10.10 for FUJITSU T4010.
