Ubuntu 10.10 installation cd won't load

Asked by Denis Jacques

Twice I have downloaded ubuntu 10.10. Neither will load. The first time, I had no operating system installed and I got an error. I tried after loading 9.10, and the cd is ignored during start up. I downloaded another cd and tried again. Again, the cd is ignored during start up.

did you do an md5sum check on the ISO file to see that it was a good download?

I'm not sure how I would do that. There is a md5sum.txt file on the cd. I can't make heads or tails out of the file, though.
