laptop support

Asked by Rajesh

I am using HP Compaq 610 with Intel Core 2 Duo processor. I would like to know whether latest edition of Ubuntu supports this model or not?

Also I would like to know the compatibility testing of my laptop for using Ubuntu.

Run it in liveCD mode to test the OS and you can see. Some hardware may take some tweaks but I'm fairly sure most will work.

Boot on Ubuntu CD, choose "Try without install" and then System->Administration->Test Hardware.
With this tool can check:
 - video
 - network (included wireless)
 - audio
and some other aspects.

If a hardware is not well supported, it doesn't means there is any solution.
In this case, I think the best is to make an Ubuntu USB key, with a persistent storage area, and to check with this key new drivers or configuration.

But I agree with actionparsnip, it should work.

Can you help with this problem?
