Need Ubuntu iso file for my Mac.

Asked by William Graham

I am using my windows vista computer (because it is the only one with internet) and need to get the iso file for my Mac OS. My Mac OS cant get onto the internet so I am just trying to take off the Mac OP system and Install Ubuntu linux. But i cant find out how to get the Ubuntu linux onto my mac. Every iso cd i make says that the mac cant recognize the file.

No I dont have the ISO of Ubuntu stored on my Mac. Im trying to get an ISO file that i will be able to put on a blank CD or DVD that will work with my mac. I have an ISO of Ubuntu on my Vista computer but it wont transfer to my Mac with a CD or USB.

Did you MD5 test the ISO?
Did you burn the CD slowly?
Did you check the CD (or USB) for errors (or consistency)?

Do i have to burn the CD a special way so that the Mac will read it?

Instead of asking, you could have shown initiative by researching a little yourself. You would have sped up the process and learned a little. You would have also found guides like this:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM

CDs use a common format, i believe it's iso9660, so they work on windoze machines and macs.

about installing your windoze download on a mac, it might not work. i don't know how the ubuntu iso is packaged. but give it a try anyways. if it doesn't work, you'll have to download a copy from a mac that has the mac os.

check the md5sum as actionparsnip suggested.

Ya i already tried to make the CD and after i created it i put it into my Mac and it said it wasnt recognizable. So I think i will have to download the iso from a mac computer.
