Can't install Ubuntu Netbook 10.10

Asked by Scott Latham

Everytime I attempt to install Ubuntu Netbook 10.10 on my Lenovo S10-3 I get an error of some kind. When I use the Startup Disk Creator, it tells me "Failed to install bootloader". Whenever I used UNetbootin or the other tool Ubuntu recommends, it installs on the USB drive but during bootup it freezes a few seconds in. I'm using a Kingston Datatraveler 2.0 2GB flash drive. Any help would be much appreciated.

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?

Yes i did an MD5 on the iso, it was OK. I just attempted it again with UNetbootin, I tried using kernel parameter intel_idle.max_cstate=0 and it booted and installed, but when I try to boot from the HDD, it freezes at a blank black screen with the flashing _ character.

What is your graphic card (Nvidia, ATI, Intel) ?
Could you describe exactly what happens at boot ?

Can you help with this problem?
