I do not hav Ubuntu CD. got to download from Net. Had too much virus problems with USB. Just can't risk using an existing one. Will have to buy a new one if I want to install Ubuntu.

hae?
even if you got a virus on your usb, when you download the iso-file and then user unetbootin to create the usb-boot device, this will wipe the complete stick. Virus gone. And if the virus would infect your computer while beeing wiped, who cares. you will reinstall the laptop anyway. or du you want to make a dual boot system?

Worst case burn a CD from the iso.

BTW: Why not install a virus scanner??

Unetbootin will rewrite partition table of USB key, so any virus can survive on the key.
And if you have to buy a new key to be sure, it should work with a 1GB key, which should not be too expensive.

Can you help with this problem?
