Trouble Creating a USB Drive for Netbook 10.04

Asked by Savy

I have followed the steps to create a usb drive for netbook but when I click to install the only options I get are "Demo and Full Installation" or "Learn more" then after selecting "Demo and full installation" it prompts a reboot. The reboot does nothing. What am I missing?

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?

It looks like they don't match. Do I need to download everything again and start from scratch?

Yes, the image is bad, thats why MD5 testing exists but you (and may other ignorant windows users) choose to just download and not think to test the data.

If you use torrents you add an extra check which is inherent in the torrent protocol. You should still MD5 test though

@actionparsnip: Thanks for helping out here, but calling users ignorant
doesn't meet our code of conduct. There's no need for that.

@savy
Your description of screen remind me nothing, so I presume we have miss something. Could you give me the name of the ISO file you have downloaded. I have also to tell you the 10 October there will be a new major release of 10.10, so you have the choice to try to install current version Lucid 10.04 , or to wait the new one Maverick 10.10. The interface for netbook should be really different. Personally, I advise you to wait next release.
@actionparsnip
Yes, MD5 is supposed to be tested, but I'm working daily since 6 month on installation problem, and it is not usually the issue. So I think it's better to ask firstly to check MD5, and then to investigate as if MD5 were correct. It avoids to waste time in exchange in which we finally see that, yes, the MD5 is correct.

Ignorant does fit by the way:
Ignorance is where someone or something is uninformed. This should not be confused with being unintelligent, as one's level of intelligence and level of education or general awareness are not the same. The word "Ignorant" is an adjective describing a person in the state of being unaware. ...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignorance

They are unaware of MD5 testing....are they not?

You can also test the USB for consistency too, just like a CD. I also suggest you test your RAM for errors on the same screen as the CD test.

Thank you everyone for all of your help! I will likely wait until the new release before installing. One thing that has been really confusing me is that after I download and set up the usb, the screen I see for the install is completely different from what is shown in the step by step section under 3 Try it! http://www.ubuntu.com/netbook/get-ubuntu/download

@actionparsnip
While labeling me as ignorant may have been accurate, it was not the appropriate or polite thing to do. I am trying to learn and being treated that way the first time I ask for help in this community is rather discouraging. I do appreciate your response and offer to help though, thank you.

Can you help with this problem?
