So, did you somehow complete installation? How did you get past the installation shut-down and the LiveCD session?

I do appear to have a Linux partition and swap on the new disk, just no GRUB. How, when and where does one run grub-install? In a terminal during a Live session? Would it look like this: "grub-install hd0"?
