Is it possible to update to the latest (i.e. v2.1.1)?

Asked by Artfaith

Dear Maintainers,

Thank you very much for the contributions!

Is it possible to update to the latest (i.e. v2.1.1 as of 2024-02)?

Please consider updating since there are quite of fixes and changes added, including:

> - Fix segfault when filelimit is used and tree encounters a directory it
> cannot enter...
> - Fixed broken -x option (stops recursing.) (balping)...
> - Add in --du and --prune to --help output...

Manfred Hampl suggests this article as an answer to your question:
FAQ #3037: “no rolling release”.

Ubuntu mantic (23.10) and noble (future 24.04) do already have tree version 2.1.1, so I assume that you are talking about older Ubuntu releases (e.g. jammy or focal).
You are welcome to follow the procedures for SRU or backports described in the the linked FAQ.

Dear Manfred Hampl (m-hampl),

Thank you very much for the response!

I see now: https://i.imgur.com/u3ivnAz.png

I ended up having it compiled and installed manually instead.

Best and kind regards
