how to get torrent file in transmission torrent

hi
  i m a new user, i m usin ubuntu cos windows was crashing frequently.

how to copy torrent file in transmission torrent
i used a similar method i used to do in windows ,that is doubl click the torrent file present indestop and clicking instal

 but if i use the same method in transmission torrent i am getting download error
   can u tell me ho i can rectify this and easily download torrents

Judging from what you say, you must already have a torrent client installed.
If you do right click --> open with on the torrent file, do you get the option to
open the file with your torrent client?
