using karmic koala, new to ubuntu, can t get transmission to start downloading

transmission not downloading, preferences show port is open, pretty new to ubuntu so not quite sure what to do

Try a later version of Ubuntu. Karmic support dies in April 2011 so you won't get any updates.

cool people thanks for the help, installed 10.04 everything works now, nice to know can get good advice when needed, special thanks to actionparsnip and jordan,bound to talk to you guys in the future
