do's my bit torrent continue after shutdown?

Hi everybody, Glad to be back. I am using "Demonoid.com" on Ubuntu 10.10 to download music on the torrent stream that comes with it (don't know if it came with the Demonoid or the OPS) and I want to know if it will continue to download if I "shut down" or "switch accounts" Thanks in advance for all of your help.

No, it doesn't. When you shut down everything shuts down. Everything is stopped.
